Kivonat:

It was shown long time ago that the extremal Kerr black hole exhibits a behaviour similar to the superconductors, namely, that it expels external magnetic (test) fields. This phenomenon was dubbed the Meissner effect. Since then, many particular examples have been found in which the Meissner effect operates. Most of these examples work with a particular black hole solution and a test magnetic field on given background, some results consider also the strong fields. In this talk we present a general proof that any extremal black hole (not necessarily Kerr, not necessarily asymptotically flat) with sufficient symmetries in fact expels external (weak or strong) magnetic and electric fields and, hence, that the Meissner effect is an inherent property of extremal black hole horizons.
